Implementation of visual odometry to obtain accurate position information

Octinion is continuously investigating alternative and cheaper ways to obtain accurate position information. This expertise is used in internal and external development projects, and also sold as OEM components for positioning and control.

The movie illustrates the implementation of visual odometry. This is the same principle as used inside a computer mouse for instance. A camera takes pictures of the ground at high frequency, and these images are processed to determine a relative position (rotation and translation). The same technology can also be used for speed measurement of moving objects such as cables in a production environment.
